Join us for a beloved holiday tradition as families enjoy the classic 1966 television short Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas on the Virginia Theatre’s 52-foot screen. Screenings run at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm, with festive activities—including pictures with Santa, hot chocolate, and trolley rides through Downtown Champaign—beginning at noon.
Volunteer Roles
Volunteers may assist with:
Greeting and directing guests

Supporting activity stations (photos with Santa, hot chocolate table, trolley line management)

Monitoring theater entrances and helping with crowd flow
Event Shift
· Event Shift 1: 11:30am–3:30pm
Volunteers will greet guests, distribute goodie bags, serve hot chocolate, assist guests boarding and exiting the trolley, support activity stations, manage lines, guide guests through the venue, and help with general event needs.
· Event Shift 2: 3:15pm–5:00pm
Volunteers will continue greeting arriving guests, distribute goodie bags, serve hot chocolate, assist guests with trolley boarding, support Santa photos and activities, manage lines, guide guests, and help with event cleanup at the end of the day.
Arrival Instructions
Volunteers should arrive through the main entrance of the Virginia Theatre and check in with the Special Events Coordinator. After checking in, volunteers will receive their role assignments and a brief overview of event operations.
